Today is our last day on the island! So we decided to watch the sunset from a special place. We drove up to Mirador Del Jable (28.617327, -17.848487) which is not too far away from El Paso. It is also where the Volcano Route starts. The sunset was perfect! And next to that we were also able to see the Cascada de nubes (waterfall of the clouds) above the mountains!

Hiking up Volcano Teneguía
Today it was really hot! So we decided to spend lunchtime at our house. At about 3pm we took the car and drove to Los Canarios in the south of the island. It took more than one hour to go there. In the south of the island are two famous volcanos - San Antonio and Teneguia. Last time we were on La Palma we walked along San Antonia. There is also a visitors center at the beginning of the volcano. Today we wanted to go closer to volcano Teneguia. We park our car at 28.490316, -17.853722. From there we walk below volcano San Antonio. Its last eruption was back in 1677. I think walking along in this part of the island is also something one should definitely do while being on La Palma. After about half an hour we have a great view to the Teide on Tenerife and La Gomera directly in front of us! La Gomera looks really close. We then walk up to the top of volcano Teneguia. Its last eruption was in 1971! Not so long ago! Walking on top of the volcano is a bit scary but the view is definitely worth it!
Hiking to Roque Palmero
From Puntagorda we drove by car up to the end of a very very steep small road (28.748399, -17.908844). There we park the car and start walking up to the top of the caldera. On the way to this place we saw the beautiful plant Echium Wildpretii on the roadside several times! This plant only lives on Tenerife and La Palma! At the end of the road we reach a point called 'Degollada de Las Palomas'. From here we have a spectacular view in the caldera! Only 20 minutes away is Roque Palmero, a summit 2306 metres high. From Roque Palmero you can see the whole landscape of La Palma! The view is perfect and the sky is completely blue. We also see Tenerife, La Gomera and El Hierro. The hiking path goes in both directions and it is definitely worth walking it for a while.
Visiting Mercadillo Puntagorda
Today we drove to Puntagorda to visit the Mercadillo. It is a good place to buy fresh fruit and vegetables or handmade stuff. It is also a meeting point for people from the region. We bought some local products, tried sugar cane juice and had some cake from a German baker.
Opening hours of the market are Saturday from 3pm to 7 pm and Sunday from 11am to 3pm.
Hiking to Barranco del Jurado
Today we did not want to take the car again so we decided to walk a bit around in the surroundings of our house. We found quite a nice path which leads to Playa de Jurado which is also known as the pirate's bay. It lies directly under Tijarafe. About 270 metres above the sea is a viewpoint called Mirador del Barranco del Jurado. From there you have a great view along the cliffs of the coast on the north west of the island! We did not go further down than this viewpoint because it was so hot! We really only wanted to go back to our house and lay down until it became a bit cooler...
